
Marketing Examples
Marketing Examples is a collecting of compelling case studies.
Harry started working on Marketing Examples in April, 2019, while sitting in an Airbnb in Paris. He shared more about the early days at How I Made My New Project. He launched it at the end of May.
By July, he had published 20 case studies on the site. At that point, he was still experimenting with post length. He got his first big sponsor that same month after directly emailing the companies COO. By the end of July, he left his job to work full time on the business.
He launched Marketing Examples in Product Hunt in August, 2019. He was #1 Product of the Week and led to an increase of over 2000 email subscribers.

He reached $2500 MRR in November, 2019.
In February, 2020, he wrote a an article about The marketing genius of Lil Nas X. He also wrote an accompanying Twitter thread. The post ended up going viral. Unfortunately, the post had a similar title to another thread about Lil Nas X. This led to a lot of negative attention on Twitter.
In April, Marketing Examples hit the #1 spot on Google. He started a Youtube channel in June. Within a week, he had 1000 subscribers.
Newsletter
He wrote about how he increased the size of his mailing list at How I promote my content.
He got his first 100 subscribers on June 1, 2019. He reached 500 subscribers by June 21. This was partially due to a spike in traffic from Hacker news.
He hit 1000 newsletter subscribers by the end of July. He had created a dedicated landing page for the newsletter an linking to it on Twitter and on Reddit/blogs.
In September, he reached 5000 subscribers. He shared some really useful tips to increase subscriptions in the milestone post. He shared more at How to build a website which converts email subscribers.
In November, he hit 7500 subscribers. At that point, there wasn’t one main strategy that stood out. He was still spending a lot of time promoting the newsletter.
He didn’t post the next milestone until March, 2020, when the newsletter reached 13,000 subscribers. Unfortunately, he lost his main sponsor in April as a result of Covid-19. By May, he hit 19k email subscribers. He shared the lessons learned at 0-19k email subs. How I promote my content.
He reached 21,000 subscribers in June. Part of the success was due to the newsletter being his content marketing. He crossed 27,500 subscribers in August.
The newsletter hit 42,000 subscribers in November. He attributed this to him going all in on the newsletter and ignoring potential distractions.
Harry has posted regular updates about his Twitter growth.
Marketing Examples hit 100 followers in June, 2019. This was partially due to success with Twitter threads. It reached 500 followers three weeks later. He expanded on his success with Twitter threads in this post.
It hit 1000 Twitter followers on July 9. About 300 of those followers was thanks to a thread on Fortnite’s marketing strategy. He reached 1500 Twitter followers 22 days later. At that time, about 10% of his time spent on the business was on growing the Twitter. He hit 2000 followers on August 11 2019. This was despite reducing his Twitter activity due after launching on Product Hunt. By the end of August, he reached 3000 followers. He attributed a large part of that success to Twitter threads.
He reached 5000 followers in September. He had started experimenting with quick tips and Twitter advertising.
In January, 2020, he reached 8000 followers. A week later, he got 4700 new followers in one night. This was largely due to Steve Schoger recommending his account.
The account hit 50k followers in August, 2020. He also changed the Twitter name to Harry’s Marketing Examples. He wrote more about the name change in this Twitter thread. He hit 70k Twitter followers in October.
He reached the 100k follower milestone in March, 2021.
Twitter Inspiration Handbook
Previously, Harry had collected all the best brand tweets in a Google document. In November, 2020, he organized them and shared them as a gallery on Marketing Examples. He titled it My Twitter Inspiration Handbook.
He created a post based on the gallery at Indie Hackers.
Startup Gifs
In November, 2019, Harry launched Startup Gifs. Startup Gifs was a collection of gifs to brighten up your startups Slack channel. He created it to draw attention to Marketing Examples in a creative way.

Other Projects
The Kanye Story
In 2018, Harry created a dating website for fans of Kanye West. The idea went viral – but the signups died down just as quickly. Harry realized that he had to get the attention of Kanye himself, so rented billboards in high profile locations.
The stunt ended with him having a phone conversation with the CFO of Yeezy.
